Edmonton resident charged with possession of meth, assault and theft

On Sunday, police responded to a report of 61-year-old Edmonton resident, George Monias, assaulting a woman at the River Cree Casino. Upon arrival, it was discovered that Monias had fled the scene on foot. A K9 unit was released and Monias was tracked down. He has been charged with possession of methamphetamine, assault with a weapon, and theft under $5,000.

Monias was also found to be on a Canada-wide warrant for a parole violation. He is scheduled to make a court appearance today in Stony Plain.
