Israel and Hamas have reached a deal to pause the war in Gaza and release hostages. This decision has come to be after 15 months of violence and over 46,000 Palestinian deaths. Israeli Prime Minister says the final details are being worked out. The proposed deal is to have a six-week initial ceasefire phase with gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza. There is to be an exchange of hostages held by Hamas for Palestinian detainees held by Israel.
The ceasefire agreement still has to be approved by Netanyahu’s cabinet, but is expected to go into effect within the next few days. It unfortunately doesn’t guarantee a lasting truce.
