NHL fines Kings player for dirty play against McDavid

The Edmonton Oilers’ Connor McDavid was a target for the Kings on Monday night. In the second period, Kings forward Alex Laferriere grabbed onto McDavid’s leg and threw him down quite aggressively. Oilers forward Kasperi Kapanen immediately grabbed Laferriere, resulting in two penalties on the play.

In the third period, Kings right wing Adrian Kempe went behind McDavid and kicked out his legs. Although no penalty was called for slew-footing, the NHL caught the play and is now fining Kempe for up to $5,000. The fine will be paid toward the Player’s Emergency Assistance Fund.
