In March of next year, underground Edmonton LRT stations will receive 5G network. As of yesterday, the city has made a 30-year-deal with Telus to bring cell service to all underground stations by Spring of next year.
Currently, almost all underground stations are dead zones for cell service. Mayor Amarjeet Sohi believes this expansion is important for the safety of Edmontonians. “We want to make sure that if something happens, people are able to contact security.”
The total taxpayer cost of this 30-year-plan is $4.7 million.
