The Rock On 4 Jasper initiative is launching next month in Sherwood Park in hopes to raise $10,000 for the Jasper Food Bank. This local art initiative is offering paint nights in Sherwood Park, where participants will paint two rocks, one to keep and one for Jasper. The initiative is thanks to You Need A BBQ’s Ambassador, Lorraine Yoneda and Owner of Pine Box Funerals, Bonnie Hoffman. Hoffman noted how Jasper is near and dear to her heart, reminiscing about when she took her kids there when they were young. “I had this overwhelming sense of grief, just like everyone else.” Hoffman said, recalling when she first found out about the fires. “This project is like grief therapy. You can share your stories about Jasper, people will listen, and you get to do good at the same time.”
The $10K is to support the Jasper Food Bank. Money will be raised a couple of different ways such as the first two paint nights which will be located at the Headquarters restaurant on Tuesday, Feb 4 at 7:00 p.m. and at the Glen Allan Rec Centre on Wednesday, Feb 12 at 7:00 p.m. Each ticket is $35, $22 going directly to the Jasper Food Bank.
All the rocks will be donated to Jasper and will be on display in a rock garden near the Food Bank.
