Jonathan Wilkinson, Canada’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, said that a response to Trump’s tariffs would be regionally fair and equitable and would not target Alberta. He says that Canada’s response would focus on products that hurt Americans more than Canadians. Trump’s threat to impose 25 per cent tariffs on Canadian exports could come to be as soon as Saturday. Canada already has plans to respond using counter-tariffs on U.S. goods.
