Childcare will soon cost roughly $15/day

Alberta is introducing a new flat rate of $326.25 per month for full-time licensed child care which is around $15 per day. Alberta wants to help support families with accessible, affordable child care. Starting April 1 of this year, parents with children between the ages of zero and kindergarten age attending full-time daycare will be eligible for a flat rate of $326.25 per month. Parents requiring part-time care will pay $230 per month.

A flat monthly fee will provide transparency and predictability for families all over the province. Children attending daycare for 100 hours or more per month are considered full-time. Children attending between 50 and 99 hours per month are considered part time. This flat rate is only available for parents with children in child care facilities between the ages of zero and kindergarten age.
