Edmonton Extreme Weather Response begins tomorrow morning

Tomorrow at 9 a.m. till Feb. 15 at 9 a.m. an extreme weather response will be activated to keep vulnerable Edmontonians safe. The response will be extended if the cold weather doesn’t let up. The threshold for activating an extreme weather response is -20 degrees Celsius with windchill for a minimum of three consecutive nights. Open City facilities like rec centres and libraries will be available for anyone seeking relief from the extreme cold.

The city also encourages vulnerable Edmontonians to go to shelters for protection from the harsh weather. If you see someone sheltering outside, the City asks that you please call 211 and ask for the Crisis Diversion Team. Information on extreme weather bus routes, overnight shelter, day services, and information on how to help is available on the City’s website!
