26-year-old Mitchell Stewart MacKenzie from Sherwood Park is facing nine charges for five different robberies of convenience stores dating back 15 weeks. He’s facing five counts of robbery, two counts of disguise with intent, and two counts of failing to comply.
From Oct. 24, 2024 till Jan. 8, 2025, MacKenzie robbed five convenience stores in Sherwood Park and Edmonton. He robbed the 711 on Cloverbar Road and Wye Road as well as two Edmonton locations, and he robbed a Circle K on Ridgemont Way.
The robberies consisted of MacKenzie showing up to the locations and stealing cigarettes while masked. No employees or locals were harmed in the robberies and staff were able to identify him. Following a judicial interim release hearing on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at Sherwood Park Provincial Court, MacKenzie is set to appear in court again on Wednesday, Feb. 12 where he is expected to submit a plea.
