As warmer temperatures and melting snow signal the start of safer road conditions, Redwater RCMP, in collaboration with Alberta Sheriffs, RCMP Traffic Services, and enforcement officers from Sturgeon and Thorhild Counties, are ramping up efforts to ensure roadway safety.
On February 21, 2025, a Joint Force Operation was conducted, focusing on intersection and speeding violations along Highway 28 and Highway 63 within the Redwater RCMP jurisdiction. The operation resulted in the issuance of 53 violation tickets, including:
- 15 Stop Sign Violations
- 33 Speeding Violations
- 2 Unregistered Motor Vehicle Violations
- 2 Failure to Produce Violations
- 1 Expired Driver’s License Violation
Cpl. Dillon Vahey, Operations NCO for the Redwater Detachment, emphasized the importance of these proactive measures, citing that in the previous fiscal year, the RCMP responded to 52 injury collisions and 2 fatalities. “These efforts show our ongoing commitment to improving road safety and enforcing traffic laws in rural areas,” Vahey said.
With spring approaching, authorities urge drivers to remain vigilant and adhere to traffic laws to ensure safer roadways for everyone.
