Edmonton police have laid additional charges in the February drowning death of a man found in the city’s northeast, as the homicide investigation continues with one suspect still on the run.
At around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025, officers with the Northeast Branch Patrol discovered the body of a deceased male near 17 Street and Yellowhead Trail. The victim was later identified as 32-year-old Sukhvir Singh. An autopsy conducted on March 5 confirmed Singh’s cause of death as drowning.
Two men, Manpreet Brar, 29, and Gursimran Singh, 21, were arrested and charged earlier in March. A third suspect, 27-year-old Lovepreet Sidhu, remains at large. Edmonton Police Service (EPS) officials believe Sidhu has fled to India and continue to search for his whereabouts.
Now, a fourth individual has been charged in connection with Singh’s death. On Tuesday, April 1, 2025, 22-year-old Jasmeet Singh was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping. Police say all four accused were known to the victim.
EPS homicide detectives are actively investigating and have released a photo of Lovepreet Sidhu. Authorities are appealing to the public for any information regarding his location.
