Say goodbye to the pocket-emptying shuffle and long lineups at security—Rogers Place is going high-tech.
OEG Sports & Entertainment announced that starting April 9, a brand-new security screening system will debut at Rogers Place ahead of the Edmonton Oilers’ game against the St. Louis Blues. Powered by Evolv Express, the AI-driven security tech aims to speed up entry while boosting fan safety across Rogers Place, the ICE District Plaza, and Fan Park.
“This new security screening will simplify access… ultimately enhancing our fans’ experience,” said Caroline Hamel, VP of Fan Experience & Security at OEG. “The safety of our fans is a top priority.”
The Evolv system, already in use at over 850 venues globally, can distinguish between real security threats and everyday items like phones or keys. The result? Fans no longer need to fumble with bins or unload their pockets—just scan your ticket, breeze through, and head for the action.
“We’re very proud to add the Oilers and Rogers Place to our growing roster,” said Evolv VP John Baier, calling the venue a “heart of Alberta’s sports and entertainment culture.”
Though the Rogers Place bag policy remains the same, fans are urged to travel light — small clutches or fanny packs are ideal to keep things moving quickly at the gate.
This upgrade marks another step in the ICE District’s evolution as a premier destination, combining entertainment and innovation. With playoffs around the corner, fans can expect a smoother, safer entry as they cheer on the Oilers.
