An Edmonton daycare has been placed under a probationary licence following ongoing safety concerns and unresolved non-compliances.
Play ‘N’ Fun Day Care is now operating under a probationary licence set to expire on July 9, according to Alberta’s Ministry of Jobs, Economy and Trade. The decision was made after repeated failures by the provider to address regulatory issues identified by provincial inspectors.
Child Care Licensing officials are closely monitoring the facility during this probationary period. As part of the terms, the daycare must inform all parents of its probationary status and provide proof of this notification to the ministry.
Parents seeking alternative care are encouraged to contact Child Care Connect toll-free at 1-844-644-5165 or use the online Child Care Look-up tool. The tool also provides inspection reports for all licensed child-care providers across Alberta.
While the majority of child-care centres in the province meet or exceed safety standards, the Ministry emphasized that enforcement measures are in place to ensure accountability. Should Play ‘N’ Fun Day Care fail to return to compliance, its licence could ultimately be cancelled.
Licence holders have the right to request an administrative review, alternative dispute resolution, or an appeal within 30 days of any licensing decision.
Residents with concerns about this or any other child-care facility can call Child Care Connect to report incidents or seek information on licensed providers in their community.
