Strathcona County Launches Annual Spring Pitch-In Campaign

As the snow melts and spring reveals more than just budding flowers, Strathcona County is calling on residents to roll up their sleeves and “Pitch-In” for a cleaner, greener community.

From April 21 to May 4, 2025, the County’s annual Pitch-In campaign encourages individuals, families, and community groups to help clear litter left behind after the long winter. Whether it’s picking up wrappers in local parks or gathering trash in neighbourhood green spaces, every bit helps restore the beauty of our shared environment.

Last year’s campaign saw an impressive turnout: more than 1,300 volunteers dedicated over 950 hours to beautify Strathcona County. Organizers hope to top those numbers this spring.

Participants can bring their own garbage bags or pick up free Pitch-In bags at the Recreation, Parks and Culture administration office—2025 Oak Street—during regular business hours. Staff will coordinate cleanup sites and arrange for filled bags to be collected, making the process easy and efficient.

Residents can register online at strathcona.ca/PitchIn or call 780-467-2211. Registration is open until May 4, the final day of the campaign.

Whether you’re a student, senior, scout troop, or just a concerned citizen, now’s your chance to make a difference. Let’s work together to ensure our streets, parks, and pathways stay clean and welcoming for all.
