Same teams. Same storyline. Different year—sort of.
For the fourth consecutive post-season, the Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings will meet in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The NHL released the full first-round schedule on Wednesday, with Game 1 set for Monday, April 21 at 8:00pm MT in Los Angeles.
Despite Edmonton booting the Kings out of the playoffs in each of the past three seasons—2022 in seven games, 2023 in six, and last year in just five—L.A. has home-ice advantage this time around, courtesy of a 3-1 regular season series edge, capped off with a 3-1 win in Edmonton on April 14.
For those keeping score at home, that means the Kings finally won something that matters in this matchup. Whether it actually helps them break the Oilers’ grip on their playoff fate remains to be seen.
Here’s the full first-round schedule:
• Game 1 @LA – Mon, Apr 21, 8:00pm MT
• Game 2 @LA – Wed, Apr 23, 8:00pm MT
