One Dead in Highway 28 Collision Near Morinville

In an update to a story written on April 21, A 44-year-old Edmonton man is dead following a serious two-vehicle collision on Highway 28 near Highway 642 Sunday afternoon.

Morinville RCMP responded to the crash at approximately 1:30 p.m. According to police, a northbound pick-up truck crossed into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a southbound semi-truck.

The driver of the pick-up, who was the vehicle’s only occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck did not report serious injuries.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. RCMP are working to determine what led to the truck entering the opposite lane.

Highway 28 was closed for several hours following the crash to allow emergency crews to respond and investigators to examine the scene.
