Wildfire Near Redwater Contained, Earlier Evacuations Reported

RCMP say the wildfire burning in rural Sturgeon County is being brought under control, despite earlier reports that it had crossed the river. Fire crews have confirmed the blaze did not jump the water between Range Roads 212 and 203, as initially indicated.

Redwater, Fort Saskatchewan, and Strathcona County RCMP responded to the fire on May 2 and assisted with evacuations in the affected area. At that time, residents were instructed to leave as a precaution.

As of now, there has been no official update on whether evacuations are still in effect. Authorities continue to monitor the situation, and fire crews remain on scene working to fully contain the blaze.

The cause of the fire has not been confirmed. Officials urge the public to stay clear of the area and monitor local emergency alerts for the latest information.
