Edmonton Man Killed in Overnight Crash on Anthony Henday Drive

A 37-year-old Edmonton man died early Friday after a single-vehicle crash on the southbound Anthony Henday Drive near Baseline Road.

Strathcona County RCMP responded to the scene just after midnight on May 2. Police say the man was the only occupant of the SUV and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The impact of the crash sparked a small grass fire nearby, but it was quickly contained by passersby before emergency crews arrived.

RCMP have not released the victim’s name. An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

Authorities are asking anyone with information or dash cam footage from the area around the time of the collision to contact Strathcona County RCMP.

No other vehicles were involved, and traffic in the area was temporarily affected overnight while officers conducted their on-site investigation.
