The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology has made the decision to halt 18 programs across its schools due to rising costs and lack of engagement.
Student intake will no longer be accepted while the programs are under review for potential future growth.
Over the next several months, the 18 programs will be reviewed to determine the best path forward.
Students who are currently enrolled in the paused programs are able to finish their students, but students who have already applied for the programs will potentially not be accepted.
NAIT representatives have stated that they will work one-on-one with the students to try and find alternative programs that match their interests and goals.
NAIT is making changes as part of its long-term vision, focused on setting students up for success. https://t.co/D6WO5ABGc1

The majority of the cut programs come from the School of Media and Information Technology, with eight of the 18 programs coming from that school.
The School of Health and Life Sciences, School of Energy and Natural Resources and School of Construction and Building Sciences are each facing two cut programs. The School of Manufacturing and Automation is losing three programs, with the School of Transportation cutting one program.
A full list of cut programs can be found on NAIT’s website.
