Canada Post was notified of a strike notice from its workers. Postal workers could refuse to return to the job site as soon as Friday, May 23.
This is the second time in the past year that the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) will be striking, with a similar strike happening shortly before Christmas last year.
A strike would bring mail and parcel delivery to a halt, with any items mid-shipment paused and no new items accepted. Delivery of any cheques will continue, as well as any shipments of live animals.

Tell your member of parliament to stand up and protect our public postal service, and its jobs, before it’s too late.https://t.co/xgl5fIlzG2#HandsOffMyPostOffice #SupportCUPW #canlab #cdnpoli pic.twitter.com/oi4SRLjwmH
A report done by the Industrial Inquiry Commission last week said that Canada Post needs to phase out door-to-door mail delivery to prevent farther losses.
It also advises for Canada post to hire some part-time workers to assist with weekend mail delivery and work-week mail rushes.
