Strathcona County announces Canada Day festival

Strathcona County has announced some of the events happening at their annual Canada Day festival on July 1.

Their hosting a stage filled with live local music throughout the entire day, being headlined by the Dan Davidson band, a local country group whose performance will be starting at 9:45 p.m.. There will also be a bunch of activities for children to partake in throughout the day, including face painting, craft zones, free swimming, canoe rides, and more.

The night will be topped off with a firework display starting at 11 p.m..

Most activities are free, but some require tickets or an unlimited access wristband. Wristbands are 5 dollars each and can be purchased from June 1-30. Wristbands will not be sold on July 1.

Wristbands can be purchased at many Strathcona County activity centres, including Sherwood Park Mall’s information desk, Recreation, Parks and Culture Administration Office, Ardrossan Recreation Complex, Festival Place, Glen Allan Recreation Complex, Kinsmen Leisure Centre and Millennium Place.

Strathcona County is continuing the free bus route from Bethel Transit Terminal to Festival Place for the event. Busses will run every 15 minutes.
