Edmonton-area teen arrested on terrorism related charges

A 15-year-old teenager was arrested on May 12th for terrorism-related online crimes.

The teenager was associated with the 764 Network, a transnational online group of online predators who lure vulnerable youth and encourage them to commit sexual acts, self-harm and the torture of animals. Members are known of have extreme ideological views and victimize children through desensitization and radicalizing them to violence.

The youth is currently in custody and the RCMP has commenced proceedings against the teenager through a terrorism peace bond. Investigators fear that the youth will commit terrorism offences related to the 764 Network.

The teenager is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on June 3.

No more information is available at this time due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and the investigation being ongoing.
