Traffic stop leads to seizure of $22k worth of drugs

A traffic stop on May 14th led to keeping $22,000 dollars’ worth of drugs off the of Edmonton.

At around 6:15 p.m., EPS officers stopped a Black Dodge Ram in the area of 107 Avenue and 101 Street for excessively tinted windows. Upon further investigation, police were able to locate a number of illicit substances within the vehicle.

These include almost 250 grams of methamphetamine, valued at almost 15,000 dollars street value, 21 grams of fentanyl with a street value of about $3,200, 56 grams of cocaine, valued at $4,500, and 30 ml of GHB, a common central nervous system (CNS) depressant commonly used as a date rape drug, valued at about $30.

Two arrests were made as a result of the stop.

Garrett John Dillan George, 40, faces charges for possession for the purpose of trafficking and proceeds of crime. George was previously arrested on the same charges just 12 days before his arrest, on May 6.

Derek Lalonde, 50, was arrested and faces charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and proceeds of crime. This individual is not to be confused with Derek Lalonde, the former head coach of the Detroit Red Wings NHL team.

Lalonde’s court date was May 29, while George’s is on June 5.
