Former EPS Officer charged with breach of trust

A former officer with Edmonton Public Services (EPS) has been charged with one count of breach of trust due to actions he made while an officer.

William (Bill) Clark, a long-time detective with the homicide unit, has been accused of sharing confidential information with news media during his time with the police. EPS did not say what information was revealed and to which outlet.

Clark spent 44 years with EPS and retired in May of last year.

The investigation was done by the EPS professional standards branch with overview by the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team. The case was then reviewed by the Alberta Crown Prosecution Services in Calgary to see if charges were warranted.

As the matter is currently in the courts, no more information is being released at this time.
