Sherwood Park man charged with arson following February housefire

Strathcona County RCMP were alerted to a residential fire in the Mill Haven area of Sherwood Park in late February of this year. The residence had a living area downstairs which contained two occupants, neither of which were injured and managed to evacuate the house safely.

The fire was considered suspicious and the RCMP General Investigation Unit took charge of the case.

The police discovered a fire accelerant at the point of origin of the fire, alongside a fuel source.

58-year-old Robert Lemon has been charged with one count of Arson – disregard for human life, which carries a max sentence of life in prison.

Lemon was released and is scheduled to appear in court in Sherwood Park in June 25.
