Environment Canada releases special air quality statement for Edmonton Area

Environment Canada has released a special air quality statement for Edmonton and it’s surrounding communities. 

The current air quality index ranking the air quality at a 10+, which is a high risk ranking. 

This poor air quality is a result of the wildfires currently taking place across the province and the country. 

At-risk individuals, including individuals with athsma, are asked to refrain from outdoor strenuous activity. At-risk children and the elderly should avoid any sort of outdoor excersize. 

Individuals that are not at-risk are also asked to avoid any strenuous outdoor activities, especially if they begin to experience coughing or throat irritation. 

The current forecasted maximum ranking for Wednesday, June 11 is a 6, meaning that the air quality should get better. Following some forecasted rain later this week, the air quality should improve further.
