Strathcona County arrest male in string of thefts

Strathcona County arrested an individual in late May after reports of multiple thefts in the Salisbury area of Sherwood Park.

Initially, the individual allegedly entered a vehicle and stole a pair of sunglasses, a watch and a chequebook. A second vehicle was then entered, in which a garage door opener and a wallet were taken. Using the garage door opener, the suspect allegedly entered the garage and stole two sets of golf clubs.

The suspect then moved to a third residence, where a 2009 Nissan Altima was stolen.

35-year-old Edmonton resident Jesse Gruchy was arrested and charged with theft of a vehicle, possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, break and enter, possession of a controlled substance and misuse of a credit card.

Gruchy was released with conditions after being taken before a Justice of the Peace. He is set to appear in court on June 25.

Strathcona County RCMP remind individuals to be mindful of what they leave in their car. They advise to take all of your valubles into your house with you, including your garage door opener, and remind residents to lock their vehicle doors when they’re not inside.
