Lamont County decreases fire warning to advisory

Lamont County has announced that it is decreasing its fire warnings from a restriction to a fire advisory as of June 23 at noon.

Due to the current weather conditions, the county is moving away from a fire restriction for all rural areas of Lamont County.

Lamont County, the town of Bruderheim, town of Lamont, town of Mundare, village of Andrew and village of Chipman are all no longer under a fire restriction.

A fire advisory asks residents to be exercise care when operating near flammable materials. Off-road vehicles and ATVs, fireworks and exploding targets are often causes of smaller fires which can grow rapidly in dry grass.

Campfires, charcoal barbecues and ULC approved propane fire pits are permitted.

Individuals need to apply for a permit for all open-air burning as per policy.
