Man Charged with Murder After Assault in Central Edmonton

A 42-year-old man is facing a second-degree murder charge after an assault last week in central Edmonton led to the death of a 59-year-old man.

According to EPS, officers from the Downtown Branch responded to a report of an assault inside a residence near 95 Street and 106 Avenue around 2:15 p.m. on Thursday, June 19. When they arrived, they found an injured man, later identified as Robert Gladue, suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Gladue was treated on scene by EMS and transported to hospital. A suspect, Dustin Chisholm, 42, was arrested nearby and initially charged with aggravated assault.

However, police confirmed that Gladue died from his injuries on Sunday, June 22.

The Edmonton Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on June 24 and determined that Gladue died of blunt force trauma. His death was ruled a homicide.

Following the autopsy, EPS Homicide Section detectives upgraded the charges against Chisholm to second-degree murder.

Investigators say the victim and accused were known to each other.
