On June 16 at approximately 2:40 p.m., a Fort Saskatchewan RCMP officer stopped a black BMW which had a mismatched license plate. During the stop, it was found that the vehicle was unregistered and uninsured. The driver was found to be provincially suspended from driving.
During a drug inspection on the vehicle, officers located one litre GHB (a common date rape drug), as well as a shaving cream canister with a false bottom which contained a “large quantity” of cocaine and methamphetamines.
46-year-old Fort Saskatchewan resident Scott Tanner has been arrested and charged with two offences under the traffic safety act, one charge of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, one charge of possession of methamphetamines for the purpose of trafficking and one charge of possession of GHB for the purpose of trafficking.
The vehicle has been impounded for 30 days following the arrest.
Scott Tanner was released from custody on conditions and will appear in court on July 24.
