On June 26 at about 9:30 a.m., a Fort Saskatchewan RCMP officer responded to a complaint of a suspicious male in a parked vehicle at a local restaurant. Police observed a heavily intoxicated male who was in control of the vehicle while impaired. Police established grounds to arrest for possession of suspected fentanyl.
The male resisted arrest and assaulted a police officer, with a taser eventually being deployed.
A vehicle search was conducted, with 6 vials of steroids, 55 mL of GHB (a common date rape drug), 28 grams of cocaine and 87 grams of fentanyl being seized. Alongside the drugs, officers also found a “large quantity” of edged weapons and Canadian Currency.
35-year-old Samuel Blackmore has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime, possession of cocaine, fentanyl, steroids and GHB for the purposes of trafficking, assault of a police officer, resisting arrest and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Blackmore is remaining in custody following a release hearing.
