No one was injured during a garage fire yesterday in St. Albert where crews were called in from Edmonton to assist.
St. Albert fire services received a call about a garage fire taking place on Kingsmoor Close at about half past noon yesterday. Crews from all three fire halls in the city responded, alongside a crew from Edmonton who came to assist due to the oppressive heat.
The fire was contained within 30 minutes. There was an individual in the home at the time of the fire, but they were uninjured.
One firefighter was being examined for heat exhaustion at approximately 2 p.m., but that remains the only injury.
St. Albert hit a high of 29.3 degrees yesterday, with the temperatures in the mid to high 20s during the course of the firefight. The blazing sun didn’t help the cause.
