Oil Kings trade Roan Woodward to Victoria Royals for draft picks

The Edmonton Oil Kings have announced today that they are trading Roan Woodward to the Victoria Royals in exchange for two draft picks.

The first pick is a fourth round WHL Prospects draft pick for the 2027 class, with the other pick being a sixth round WHL Prospects draft pick for next year’s draft in 2026. Both picks were originally Edmonton’s and were traded to Victoria in a draft-day trade in the 2025 draft.

Woodward has played 127 games for the Oil Kings organization since October 2023, scoring 38 goals and 53 assists for a total of 91 points. In the playoffs, Woodward scored two points in seven games.

“The Edmonton Oil Kings organization would like to thank Roan for all his contributions both on the ice and in the community,” said Oil Kings President and General Manager Kirt Hill. “We wish him all the best in Victoria.”
