On July 9, Wetaskiwin RCMP observed two known drug dealers leaving the town. The Wetaskiwin Crime Reduction and General Investigation Section were alerted, and surveillance of the alleged dealers were trailed as they travelled to a residence in Thorsby and interacted with an individual outside of the residence.
The RCMP conducted a traffic stop and arrested the vehicle occupants, and a search warrant was executed revealing 28 grams of suspected fentanyl as well as a container of pepper spray.

40-year-old Wetaskiwin resident Daniel Johnson was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, three counts of failing to comply with release conditions and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
RCMP executed a search warrant at the Thorsby property, during which police seized 141 grams of fentanyl, 6.4 grams of methamphetamine, 1.5 grams of cocaine and two rifles.

Police arrested 37-year-old Edmonton resident Corey Robert David Landry with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, careless storage of a firearm, two counts of possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition order and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
“These warrant executions highlight the dedication and reach of the Wetaskiwin Crime Reduction Unit and General Investigation Section. Our teams continue to work beyond jurisdictional lines to disrupt drug activity and enhance public safety in Wetaskiwin and surrounding communities.”
Both Landry and Johnson are set to face court today in Wetaskiwin.
