Waverley school in south Edmonton has been temporarily closed due to frozen pipes disabling the heating system. All students have been safely relocated to Hardisty School, chosen because it’s close by and had the space. The frozen pipes started impacting the school on Wednesday, heating measures have been applied to help thaw the pipes but the school isn’t expected to open for several days.
Once the pipes thaw, Division Infrastructure staff can figure out what repairs are necessary. A specific timeline for repairs and the school reopening are not yet known.
