Teenager Killed in Head-On Crash Near Sturgeon County

A tragic collision on Highway 37 near Range Road 240 has left a 17-year-old girl dead. The crash, which occurred on February 25, 2025, at approximately 12:15 p.m., involved a Ford Focus and a Chevy Silverado.

According to Morinville RCMP, the Ford Focus, driven by the teenager, collided head-on with the Silverado. Both vehicles ended up in the south ditch. The young female driver, a Sturgeon County resident, was declared deceased at the scene. Fortunately, the driver and passenger of the Chevy Silverado were unharmed.

RCMP and emergency medical services responded to the scene, and the RCMP Collision Reconstructionist was called in to assist with the investigation. The exact cause of the crash remains unclear, and authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Morinville RCMP urges anyone with information about the crash to come forward as they continue their efforts to understand the events leading to this tragic loss. The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
