Boating season is officially underway in Fort Saskatchewan as the West River’s Edge boat launch has reopened for the 2025 season.
Located along the North Saskatchewan River, the launch provides direct access for boaters, paddlers, and anglers. The area also features nearby trails, picnic areas, and public washrooms, making it a popular destination for families and outdoor enthusiasts.
“West River’s Edge is a favourite destination for both residents and visitors,” said Jenelle Hart, Manager of Parks Services. “The opening of the boat launch marks the start of another great season of river activity in Fort Saskatchewan.”
The City is reminding users to follow all safety protocols, including checking river conditions before launching, ensuring watercraft are properly registered and equipped, and being mindful of others in the area.
The boat launch may close without notice due to changing river conditions.
Residents are encouraged to review river safety information before heading out. A short safety video from the Fort Saskatchewan Fire Department is available at: youtube.com/watch?v=MGhkojRTYfI&t=8s.
