Three teen boys are facing a raft of charges after they allegedly doused a parked vehicle with bear spray in what RCMP are calling a targeted assault with a weapon.
On the evening of April 11, just after 7:30 p.m., St. Albert RCMP were called to the 300 block of St. Albert Trail following reports that three male youths had approached a stationary vehicle and unleashed bear spray on the three people inside.
Emergency services treated the victims at the scene for the effects of the chemical irritant. Thankfully, no one required hospitalization.
The teenage suspects fled the area before police arrived, but all three were later tracked down and arrested.
Each of the accused, whose identities are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, now face multiple charges, including three counts each of assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. One count of failing to comply with a release order was also laid against each suspect.
Initially remanded into custody following a hearing before a Justice of the Peace, all three have since been released under strict conditions.
