Man Arrested for $64K Fraud Attempt at Sherwood Park Dealership

A 40-year-old Edmonton man is facing multiple charges after allegedly trying to fraudulently purchase a vehicle worth approximately $64,000 from a Sherwood Park dealership.

Strathcona County RCMP received a fraud complaint on April 19 and launched an investigation through their General Investigation Unit. Police say the suspect attempted to use false identity documents to buy the high-value vehicle.

Perry John Fotty was arrested and charged with fraud, two counts of trafficking in identity information, and using a forged document.

Fotty remains in custody following a judicial interim release hearing. He is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Sherwood Park on April 30, 2025.
