Mackenzie Dawn Hardy was released from Fort Saskatchewan Correctional Centre at the end of April due to forged paperwork.
A fraudulent “stay letter” was put in under the name of a Crown prosecutor and sent through a fake “defense council”.
All the paperwork uses the name of a real Crown prosecutor, whose name is unknown at this time, but email addresses were fake and altered to look like a genuine email address.
The recent development is that the fraudster has recently made contact with both Alberta’s Justice Department and Global News to announce that they have no involvement or relation to Hardy, and have never even spoken to her, but simply that she was just readily available with a lot of information out on her. Hardy was arrested twice in Red Deer on charges of possession of methamphetamines, stolen vehicles, theft, and driving without proper documentation.
The individual behind the release of Hardy has not made their identity known to Global News or to Alberta’s Justice Department and their claims have not been proven.
Hardy has taken to TikTok since her release, under the handle kenzies.on.the.lamb. She has been taunting the police and recently started a Go Fund Me page to help her boyfriend who is allegedly suffering from an aggressive brain tumour, as well as helping her support herself on the run.
Hardy has also said that she is no longer within Alberta, making this a country-wide search.
