The Edmonton Police Service is investigating a homicide following a fatal stabbing in north central Edmonton early Wednesday morning.
At approximately 7:20 a.m. on June 11, officers from the Northwest Branch responded to a weapons complaint at a residence near 81 Street and 114 Avenue. Upon arrival, police found 27-year-old Morgan Cherish Taryn Giroux suffering from serious injuries. She was treated at the scene by EMS and transported to hospital, where she later died.
A female youth was initially taken into custody at the scene but was released later that day.
An autopsy conducted Thursday by the Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Giroux died from a stab wound. Her death has been ruled a homicide.
The EPS Homicide Section is leading the investigation. Police say they are not seeking any additional suspects at this time.
Anyone with further information is asked to contact the Edmonton Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
