On Jun 17 shortly before 8 a.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a break and enter near Gregoire Lake on Fort McMurray 468 First Nation. It was reported that a storage sea can had been broken into sometime during the night and approximately $30,000 worth of cigarettes had been stolen.
RCMP were able to identify a vehicle involved using surveillance footage, and a suspect was arrested in downtown Fort McMurray. Their vehicle was also parked at the address. Police observed several unopened cigarette packages in the backseat of the vehicle.
Wood Buffalo RCMP obtained a search warrant for the residence and vehicle, seizing 494 packs of cigarettes with 45 of them being unstamped, six cigars, three grams of suspected fentanyl, one gram of suspected cocaine and a replica handgun pellet gun.
Police have laid charges against three individuals as a result of the investigation. All three are residents of Fort McMurray.
28-year-old Nacy Corrigan is facing a charge of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and failure to comply with probation order.
40-year-old Ryan Lays has been charged with break and enter, failure to comply with probation order and failure to comply with release order.
28-year-old Jade Pilgrim has been charged with one count of break and enter and two counts of operating while prohibited.
None of the three individuals have been located by police and all three have a provincial arrest warrant.
