Herbert Road and Arlington Drive shut down in St. Albert for roadway reconstruction

The City of St. Albert is doing some road work extending from Falstaff Avenue/Akins Drive to Sunset Boulevard.

As such, the intersection of Herbert Road and Arlington Drive will be closed until the end of August to rebuild the roadway through the intersection.

The City is asking residents to use Akins Drive to access Herbert Road while the construction is taking place.

The City of St. Albert says that these reconstructions are necessary, as the ride quality is poor down the road and the roughness of the pavement causes problems for seasonal roadway maintenance.

The northeast bound lanes will be constructed first, and pending budget approval, the southwest bound lanes will then be redone during late Spring and Summer months of 2026.

The work is expected to take approximately two years, which St. Albert says will “lessen overall impacts and minimize disruption to residents and road users”. The intersection is only projected to be closed until the end of August.
