Alberta hosts Family Fishing weekend this weekend

Alberta is hosting their second and final Family Fishing weekend of the year this weekend.

During Family Fishing Weekends, Albertans and those visiting Alberta are encouraged to try fishing on waterbodies with open fishing seasons without having to purchase a sportfishing licence.

Alberta hosts two family fishing weekends throughout the year, one over the Family Day long weekend in February, and one on the second weekend of July.

Fishing regulations still apply during Family Fishing weekends. Make sure that you’re up to date on sportfishing regulations before taking the family out for the weekend.

Additionally, free fishing is not applicable in national parks. No fishing is permitted in Elk Island National Park.
