Stingers set sights on seven in a row tonight in Ottawa

The Edmonton Stingers Basketball Club are looking to continue their hot streak as they make their way to Ottawa tonight.

The Stingers have been on a roll, taking six wins in their last six games, including two against rival Calgary.

Edmonton might be slowing down, however. Their last win against the Scarborough Shooting Stars was their closest winning margin since their first win of the streak, taking victory by just six points. It was also an embarrassing shooting performance, nailing just five of their 23 shots from beyond the three-point line.

Edmonton is looking to take down the Ottawa Blackjacks tonight, who are 7-7 in their 14 games this year. The Blackjacks are on a roll of their own, winning 4 of their last 5, with their only loss in that streak coming from the Western conference worst team, the Saskatchewan Rattlers. Ottawa is coming off of a blowout in their last game, defeating the Brampton Honey Badgers with a 28-point winning margin.

Edmonton currently sits one game behind the Calgary Surge in the Western Conference standings. A win for Edmonton tonight and a loss for Calgary would put the Alberta rivals on equal footing in terms of record. Calgary is in Winnipeg tonight, taking on the 6-9 Sea Bears. Calgary would still take the second spot in the standings, with a point +/- of 118 compared to the Stingers +/- of 61.

This is the second game of Edmonton’s four game road trip, with their next taking place on the home turf of western conference leaders, the Vancouver Bandits this Sunday.
