Here comes the first real blast of winter weather to the Capital region and central Alberta.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the City of Edmonton, St. Albert, and Sherwood Park stating that “snow will begin tonight through Monday, with total amounts ranging from 2 to 5 cm.”
This storm is expected to be worse South of Edmonton, with a snowfall warning issued due to an expected 10 to 15 cm of snow for much of central Alberta. The bulk of the snow should be dumped from north of Calgary from Airdrie to north of Rocky Mountain House and Red Deer and from West of Nordegg to Drumheller in the East.
The federal weather agency expects that some of the snow will melt upon contact with the ground as it remains relatively warm.
When is this system expected to pass? It should be all over with by Monday night.
