Three dogs involved in several attacks in Leduc were put down, according to the city.
The attacks happened over the summer, when Leduc residents began voicing concerns about a group of German shepherds that were biting people, including a seven-year-old boy and a three-year-old child.
According to the city, the families of the dog attack victims were told earlier this month that the dogs had been euthanized.
“Public safety – and by extension, responsible pet ownership – is of the utmost priority for the city, and I hope that all involved can now heal and move forward,” wrote Leduc Mayor Bob Young in a statement.
The city spoke with the owners of the German shepherds who now have eight pending charges against them under the Animal Licensing and Control Bylaw and Dangerous Dog Act.
The owners must also pay a $1,400 fine.
