Edmonton police warn public of violent sex offender released

Edmonton Police are warning the public about the release of a violent sexual offender.

Laverne Waskahat was released from custody on December 11 after serving a sentence for breaching a court order. Police believe there is a risk that Waskahat will offend again.

Waskahat has a history of making and publishing child pornography involving infants under three years old and has been known to offend against children while in a position of care over the child.

Waskahat has also been known to take voyeuristic photos of infants in public, and police believe they may try to associate with someone who has kids to groom them.

Waskahat is described as:

  • 47 Years Old
  • 5 Foot 11 Inches
  • 170 lbs
  • Brown eyes
  • Black hair
