Moose family removed from Edmonton lawn

Alberta Fish & Wildlife dealt with a peculiar situation in an Edmonton neighbourhood earlier this week.

On Thursday at around 9 a.m. a family of moose consisting of a mother and two calves arrived at the home on 137 Avenue and 58 Street.

The moose were there for several hours before being shot with tranquilizers, removed from the area, and returned to the river valley.

Fish & Wildlife were assisted by Edmonton Transit Service and City of Edmonton peace officers to remove the animals.

It is not known why the moose travelled so far away from their habitat, but Fish & Wildlife ask that you call park rangers if you see a moose within city limits, and never to approach them.
