EPS: 17 charges laid out on repeat offender

A repeat offender, who was wanted on multiple warrants, is facing 17 new drug and firearm related charges.

On January 7 at around 6 p.m. police were conducting patrols near 118 Avenue and 104 Street when they spotted 28-year-old Jeffery Saulteaux.

Saulteaux, who was wanted on 12 outstanding warrants, was approached by police, where he dropped a backpack and fled the scene on foot.

After a short pursuit, Saulteaux was spotted discarding a handgun before being arrested and taken into custody.

He was found in possession of almost 59 grams on fentanyl, 19 grams of cocaine, and 13 grams of meth with an approximate street value of $12,300.

Inside the backpack that Saulteaux dropped was a semi-automatic rifle with two loaded magazines.

Saulteaux has been placed in custody and is facing charges which include resisting arrest and obstructing a police officer.
